We are recruiting for new EPSRC project: “IOTEE: Securing and Analysing Trusted Execution Environment beyond the CPU.” In this project you will be investigating  future technology of confidential-computing and how evaluating the security of PCIe devices participating in confidential computing computation. We’re looking for someone who has the aspiration to conduct a strong research with the support of the School of Electronics and Computer Science.

What we would like to see

PhD in computer science, Cyber security, and electrical engineering or equivalent professional qualifications and experienceResearch experience in system security and hands on experience evaluating systemsFamiliarity with PCIe and CPU and Device interactionProgramming in C, C++, and python

Preferred

Experience working with Trusted Execution technologies (e.g. Intel SGX, AMD SEV, Intel TDX)

You will be part of a vibrant and friendly Cyber Security Research Group, with access to resources like a cyber testbed and a forensic laboratory. You will be supported by our NCSC Academic Centres of Excellence for Cyber Security Research and Cyber Security Education which draw together expertise from across the University, including Computing, Electronics, Law, Management, Mathematics, Sociology and Psychology. Both our MEng in Computer Science and Cyber Security and MSc in Cyber Security are NCSC accredited. You will be able to work with the Southampton Cyber Security Academy (CSA), a partnership between the University of Southampton and key industrial partners. The CSA provides a unique environment that facilitates use-inspired and multi-disciplinary research, education, training and outreach.

The post will be held in the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) at the University of Southampton. Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.  The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD.  Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
