An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced specialist Teacher of the Deaf QToD/Educational Audiologist or a Speech and Language Therapist in the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS). This is a full time role but applications will be welcomed for those interested in part time or job share roles.

USAIS provides a regional service for deaf adults and children in the southern region of the UK.  By joining our inclusive, multi-disciplinary team you will have a unique opportunity to further your career by utilising your clinical skills within a University setting allowing you to access up-to-date research in this field.  You will be responsible for the specialised assessment of hearing impaired adults and children for a range of auditory implants and devices and will manage a caseload of children and adults providing rehabilitation and support post fitting.  You will provide training, advice and support for local professionals regarding the optimal use of auditory implants.  You will be based at our clinic on the Highfield campus but will also see children and adults in their education or home setting. The area covered for outreach visits could be across the region but mostly West of Southampton.

You will be a qualified Teacher of the Deaf or Speech and Language Therapist with extensive post qualification experience across the age range.  Experience of working with children and young people with auditory implants and assistive listening devices would be advantageous, however, appropriate training will be offered.   

Within the department there are excellent opportunities for specialised working and individual areas of research. You will have the opportunity to be involved with teaching on the MSc and BSc Audiology courses run by the University. Attendances at conferences and training courses is encouraged and supported for continuing professional development.  Further details of the role are available in the job description and person specification.
