Lancaster University is seeking to appoint a full-time UK-based Project manager to provide project management for the £6.8M RECIRCULATE project. This project, in collaboration with University of Benin (Nigeria), Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (Ghana) and LUGhana is funded by Research Councils UK through the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) (http://www.rcuk.ac.uk/funding/gcrf/growingcapability/).

You will be responsible for co-ordination and project management of all UK-based and West Africa-based programme activities including oversight of risks and issues arising, working with the Programme Director and academic staff in all partners.  This includes effective quality assurance  in terms of  monitoring, evaluation and reporting of project finances in line with RCUK aligned methodologies; providing regular progress reports on all operational (training, research, KE) and financial aspects of the programme; contributing to discussions and meetings with Project managers from other GCRF grants; managing the effective marketing and promotion of RECIRCULATE to key stakeholders.

You should have previous experience of project management relating to the development of large-scale international research, training and/or KE partnerships, a higher degree in a relevant area, be a positive team player with the ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project team,  possess an ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems, have effective cross-cultural interpersonal skills and be willing to undertake to spend periods of time, typically up to seven days several times per year, in Ghana, Nigeria and other African partner countries. 

This post is initially for 48 months commencing at the beginning of October 2017.
