Description :

Applications are invited for the academic post of Associate Professor in GNSS and Communications Engineering at the University of Nottingham. The post has been created to support and grow research activities in GNSS and student interest in this technology area in the Nottingham Geospatial Institute and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. We are seeking an exceptional candidate who aspires to be an international leader in GNSS receiver and signals technology.

Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent and post doctoral academic research and teaching experience in a relevant field. The successful candidate will also contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, which will include lectures, tutorials and the supervision of project work.

The successful candidate will lead and conduct original, internationally recognised research within an area aligned to GNSS receiver and signals technology, within the world leading Nottingham Geospatial Institute (NGI). This will involve seeking and obtaining research funding and publishing high quality research outputs. The goal of this position is to develop and lead a new group, focussed on GNSS receiver technology, within the complementary GNSS and PNT activities of the NGI. In the first instance this part of the activity will be focussed on the AMSCI funded partnership with Rockwell Collins, and will be pump-primed with additional support for post-doctoral staff and PGR students.

It is also essential that the candidate has proven experience in research leadership and has a proven track record in project management. The person appointed will be expected to apply for and obtain external funding to enable development of new and independent research. Good communication and organisation skills are also required.
