The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a point of one to one contact, support and information for foundation year, undergraduate and post-graduate students with dyslexia and other Specific Learning Differences. The day to day work involves the provision of on-going tutorial support using student-centred methodologies as well as ensuring that institutional support is made available to students. Candidates should have knowledge and understanding of the nature and challenges involved in life at University and the particular ways in which dyslexia and other SpLDs can impact on study at this level. They should also be able to provide assistance to students applying for Disabled Students' Allowances. Candidates should have a degree (or equivalent) with experience in providing support for dyslexic students in Higher Education. A relevant postgraduate qualification (or equivalent), for example in teaching, is desirable. Good IT skills and an awareness of current disability legislation and legal requirements are essential. Knowledge of specialist programmes and Assistive Technology for use with dyslexic students is essential for this role.

Candidates must also have good organisational, administrative and communication skills and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

This is a full-time permanent post. Hours of work are 36.25 hours per week. Academic Support is housed on the University Park campus, but the role involves working at one or more of our other local campuses.
