TEL Support Officer (INS037)

The Institute for Teaching, Innovation and Learning (INSTIL) plays a central role in developing, leading and delivering the University’s strategic objectives in relation to learning, teaching and assessment. Our primary focus is to help ensure a high quality of teaching and the development of accomplished learners. Our work includes improving academic practice to ensure high quality learning and developing and supporting Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL).

The TEL Support Officer is based in the TEL team within INSTIL. The team are responsible for supporting and developing the use of technology-enhanced learning in teaching, learning and assessment to improve our students’ educational experience. This includes managing, promoting and providing support for the university’s learning technologies, which include Blackboard, Turnitin, Panopto, CampusPress and Poll Everywhere.

The TEL Support Officer is responsible for providing support, guidance and training to staff on the use of these TEL systems. To achieve this the post-holder works closely with the TEL Systems Manager and the Academic Developers in TEL. The TEL Support Officer also supports the administration and further development of the university’s TEL systems in conjunction with the TEL Systems Manager.

The post requires a good understanding and experience of working with TEL systems including VLEs. Equally important is experience of working in a customer facing role. In this respect, effective oral communication skills are essential, including the ability to explain technical issues to those with a non-technical background.
