Hours: Rota over 7 days between the hours of 8am – 6pm, including weekends. There would be some requirement to work earlier and later.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to work in the University of Southampton’s Sport and Wellbeing facilities, which are open to its students, staff and members of the wider community. The University facilities are available to our customers from 07:00 to 22:00 every day during the week and is a 7 day operation. Wide Lane Sports Grounds is an 80 acre site with a number of grass pitches, synthetic surfaces, gyms and a central pavilion. Wide Lane has partnerships with Eastleigh Borough Council and the Football Foundation to whom we provide facility access in addition to our students. 

We are recruiting for a Wide Lane Supervisor to lead the team of grounds staff based at Wide Lane. The role would be working on a full time basis to line mange the staff, deal with external stakeholders, manage the customer booking system and report directly into the management team. On site there are also two gyms which will require an oversite to the cleaning and maintenance of equipment. Wide Lane is host to a number of different sports including, football, rugby, cricket, baseball, lacrosse, tennis, netball, hockey and American football. The facility has a pavilion which hosts a number of different events throughout the year.

In addition the site hosts a number of non-sporting events throughout the year from facilitating a park and ride scheme to a Garden Fayre.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, experience running sports grounds, line management experience, event management understanding and an ability to drive business at Wide Lane. You should have proven experience in handling a diverse range of situations in a customer focussed environment.

We expect the successful candidate to be qualified to at least A level or equivalent and have relevant work experience.  Experience in using Microsoft Office packages, customer relation software and delivering first aid would be expected upon application.
