Description :

Join our talented and committed team of outreach professionals, working with schools and colleges across Sussex and the South East. As one of two Outreach Officers you will lead a small team and support the Outreach Manager in achieving the ambitious targets set out in our Access Agreement.

Based at either our Eastbourne or Hastings site and working across all our campuses (including those in Brighton), a key aspect of this role is being responsible for the day-to-day management, development and delivery of activities offered through the university’s Outreach Programme which aims to encourage students from under-represented groups to apply to Higher Education. In addition, you will be required to liaise closely with colleagues in our partner schools and colleges, other university departments and external agencies.

You will have experience of successfully developing and delivering Higher Education outreach including working with primary and secondary schools and FE colleges. Experience of managing people and the ability to motivate a team and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and audiences is essential.

Some evening and weekend working is required.  The role will require regular travel to the university’s sites with equipment for events and therefore a current driving licence will be essential.

In return, the university offers a generous pension scheme and annual leave package which starts at 25 days as well as additional leave over the Christmas period.

This post will start in January 2018 and is temporary to cover a period of maternity leave.

The successful candidate will be asked to apply for an appropriate Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Interviews will be held on Monday 23rd October 2017.
