The University of Lincoln is seeking suitably qualified applicants for a full-time academic position in the School of Engineering. The appointment will be at the level of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (grade 7-8). The focus of the position is in Robotics and Automation.

The Lincoln School of Engineering was founded in 2009 with funding from HEFCE and the European Union, in collaboration with Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery and other employers in the engineering sector. The School has established itself as a centre of excellence for engineering education and research. In 2011 we received the Lord Stafford Award for ground-breaking collaboration between industry and academia and in 2012 we won the Times Higher award for Outstanding Employer Engagement. In 2015 we became a Siemens Global Principal Partner university, based on our successful research collaborations with the company, and we are one of only 16 such universities worldwide. Most recently, in 2017 a £28M expansion program was completed, creating new teaching and laboratory spaces.

At undergraduate level we offer a range of degrees in Mechanical, Electrical and Automation Engineering. We also offer two taught masters degrees and have a growing postgraduate research portfolio. We have three major research groups: Intelligent Systems, Power and Energy, Manufacturing and Materials Processing. The successful applicant will join the Intelligent Systems Research Group and focus his or her research on one or more aspects of control engineering, robotics and automation.

Candidates are expected to have a PhD in Engineering, Mathematics or the Physical Sciences, and have research or industrial experience relevant to control, automation or robotics. Research pedigree in this area is essential, and relevant teaching experience is highly desirable. Experience in the application of control and robotics to practical systems is also highly desirable. Research interests should align with our growing portfolio of applications in control and automation which include food and agriculture, intelligent vehicles, wireless sensor networks and distributed/networked systems.
