The University of Southampton are currently looking for an Enterprise Systems Management - Team Lead: Networks and Unified Communications to be an integral part of the fast paced Enterprise Management System.

The University of Southampton has a very large and complex network and communications systems. We are currently handling 10,000 telephone extensions using Mitel MX-One, 40,000 concurrent network connection and over 15,000 concurrent WIFI connections based on Cisco and Extreme switches.

As a Team Lead within the Enterprise System Management team, you will be involved in the day to day scheduling, management and running of all the University infrastructure as well as offering your experience and recommendation to improve and ameliorate the technologies that are currently in use now and in the future. 

As part of this role you will need to demonstrate the following knowledge:

Significant, demonstrable experience of Enterprise class networksDemonstrable experience of Cisco, Extreme and Palo Alto administration and managementDemonstrable experience in all aspects of the Network StackClear thinking with an analytical approach to problem solvingAbility to work to plan and project manageDemonstrable ability to lead and manage a teamDemonstrable ability to understand telephony based principalsHigh level of clear Communication, verbal and written

Desirables

General understanding of enterprise level server and storage hardwareDemonstrable knowledge of Active DirectoryExperience using Prime and SolarwindsScripting skills: Python, bash, Perl and PowerShellFibre Channel Switching / Fabric managementDisaster Recovery tools and processesKnowledge of ITIL 

We expect that you will be in possession of to a degree or equivalent level of professional qualification Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant technical discipline.  You will also need to be able to demonstrate problem solving abilities, be able to think clearly under pressure as well as being able to communicate with a range of colleagues.

Whilst this role has a focus on the Network area of our infrastructure, our team culture encourages cross-training to enable you to develop your experience in all areas of IT infrastructure.  We are continuously investing in both our estate and our team members to ensure that we provide the best service for our Students, Researchers and Staff.

In exchange for your skills we are offering a salary of £37,706 to £47,722 depending on experience, plus a very generous package including a generous pension and access to a wide variety of discounted benefits.
