Are you a qualified librarian with staff management experience and a desire to provide excellent customer service to students and staff in a busy academic library?  This has been a successful year for our Information Services department as we have recently been reaccredited for Customer Services Excellence and our library services scored above average in the most recent NSS.  We are seeking an experienced librarian with enthusiasm, vision and commitment to the student experience to continue this good practice and to help manage our library services at the Aldrich Library.

Your experience of staff management gives you the ability to recruit, lead and motivate the library’s front line team of senior/resource assistants and student helpers.  You will have a sound understanding of electronic information sources, automated library systems and standard office applications.

With excellent interpersonal skills you relate well to library customers and colleagues.  You will be interested in learning and proactive in developing yourself and your team, you will have the confidence to learn new skills as required.  Having the vision to identify changes in service requirements and the drive to plan and develop information services to meet the needs of our customers is essential.

This is a full time fixed term post for 12 months to cover the secondment of the permanent post holder. The post includes regular evenings and some weekend working for which appropriate enhancements will be paid.  In return, the university offers a wide range of benefits including a generous pension scheme, annual leave starting at 25 days a year plus additional leave over the Christmas period, childcare vouchers and travel loans.
