Professor and Subject Group Head (HS0161)

Psychology is one of three Subject Groups (Psychology, Biomedical Science, Sports Health and Exercise Science) within the School of Life Sciences which, along with the School of Medicine and the School of Health and Social Work sits within the newly formed Faculty of Health Sciences. Psychology has been delivered at Hull since 1928 and is one of the longest established psychology groups in the UK.  We conduct research at the forefront of scientific psychology that has impact on practice in psychology, mental and physical health, cognition and neuroscience.

Psychology at Hull, along with York, is in the unique position of offering the only integrated clinical psychology doctoral training programme in the UK.  Applications are open only to those students studying on the BSc Psychology undergraduate courses at Hull and York Universities. 

The Subject of Psychology is looking to appoint an outstanding Professor/Reader position in addition the person will be expected to become the Subject Group Head to lead Psychology and drive a culture of continuous improvement in research and curriculum. Applicants must be research active, competent to develop and nurture their own research group and contribute to teaching as appropriate. They will be expected to provide general guidance, support and development to academic staff within the group ensuring high performance in learning, teaching, research, enterprise, and engagement; including scholarship and the development of professional practice.

 The post holder must also be able to demonstrate a good quantity and quality of refereed research publications and other outputs which serve to raise the research profile of the Subject and enhance its submission in research assessments.
