Post 1

Based at either the Highfields Sports Ground or the River Sports Ground this is a full time, permanent role with the award winning sports grounds team. Main duties will include assisting with the maintenance of a wide range of sports grounds areas to a high standard including marking out playing surfaces and maintaining turf and artificial surfaces. Other duties will include the preparation, care and maintenance of amenity landscapes within University grounds including planting perennials, shrubs, etc.

Candidates should be highly motivated, professional and be able to work with minimal supervision. You will be qualified to NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in amenity horticulture or Sports Ground practices, or a related discipline or have substantial relevant experience and have the ability to operate a wide range of powered machinery including tractors and other equipment used in Sports grounds maintenance. Due to the frequency with which the post holder will drive between university sites a full current driving licence is essential for this role unless disability precludes this.

Post 2

Based at either University Park or Jubilee Campus this full time, permanent role will undertake all practical aspects of garden maintenance including planting a wide range of shrubs, perennials, etc and collecting litter within the designated area of work. Other duties will include the preparation, care and maintenance of amenity landscaped areas and sports grounds and the operation of horticultural and grounds maintenance machinery.

Candidates should be qualified to NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent)  in amenity horticulture, or a related discipline or have substantial relevant experience, have knowledge of a range of trees, shrubs and perennials and preferably hold an NPTC – PA1 and PA6A pesticide application certificate. Candidates must also have experience in the use of compact and agricultural tractors and trailers including associated attachments. Due to the frequency with which the post holder will drive vehicles involved in grounds maintenance operations and transport materials between University sites candidates must hold a full current driving license unless disability precludes this.

Hours of work for both posts are 36.25 per week to be worked mainly Monday to Friday with flexibility to work occasional weekends as required.
