Description :

You are invited for an Accelerator Research Associate position at CERN in Geneva (Switzerland) and belonging to the Engineering Department of Lancaster University and the Cockcroft Institute of Accelerator Science and Technology.  A research associate is sought to participate in the development of high gradient X-band RF acceleration for the compact linear collider experiment at CERN. Lancaster University, in collaboration with CERN, are investigating the use X-band RF systems to provide high gradient acceleration of charged particles. You will be part of the high gradient test program at CERN and will be involved in the design, commissioning and operation of high power klystrons, pulse compressors and high gradient RF cavities, as well as analysis of test data. You will work in a team with 2-3 Lancaster PhD students as well as the CERN staff.

Ideally you should have a PhD in a related subject and experience in high power (> 1MW) RF sources, or high gradient RF cavities. Excellent communication skills are essential.
