Description :

In this role, you will provide technical support for teaching and research activities to both students and staff of the University. You will be providing in depth specialist technical knowledge and delivering laboratory and workshop training sessions. Making lab equipment (generally small electromechanical apparatus), setting up experiments and instructing students how to perform the experiments will also be part of your daily tasks.

This role is part of a team of technical staff providing a wide range of specialist activities, covering disciplines such as Electronic, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. This makes for a very diverse and interesting role, with the opportunity to learn and develop novel applications for this developing technology. As well as traditional manufacturing methods, we have 5 axis milling capability and CNC laser cutters for plastic and wood cutting material up to 20mm thick. Most members of the technical team have their own areas that they are responsible for and this is usually based around their specialist area or skill set.

You will also assist in the day to day maintenance of the laboratory’s equipment including duties such as Portable Appliance Testing. Training will be provided where necessary.
