We are looking for a proactive digital professional that is passionate about digital marketing and the constant opportunities it offers. Working in a specialist digital team of 16 and a wider Communications and Marketing group of 60 we are looking for a proactive, experienced and passionate SEO specialist who can use their expert knowledge to improve the position of the University website www.southampton.ac.uk and its key sections and pages.

You will be the organisation’s key expert and linchpin when it comes to SEO. With support from the senior team and working in collaboration with other digital staff, you will be responsible for delivering the university’s SEO strategy and work plan.  With support from your direct report, this will include implementing improvements to centrally owned system and content on a day-to-day basis, undertaking development of both on and off page content and being part of a large change project to transform the University of Southampton website. You will also support and advise colleagues with varying levels of knowledge from across the institution, helping them to achieve results in their own specialist areas.

You will be highly analytical with a passion for problem solving. You will regularly report and make recommendations to staff at all levels of the organisation on our progress and position. Liaising with colleagues from across the institution to build an understanding of the SEO activity being undertaken as a whole will be critical to your success.

You will thrive at working independently, as well as with key stakeholders from around the University. You will be expected to work closely with agencies, Communications and Marketing staff, and Faculty and Services representatives. You must be confident at delivering training, and helping non-experienced staff to understand the concept, implications and importance of SEO.

You will have up-to-date knowledge of SEO best practices and be a team player who takes a flexible, organised, collaborative and innovative approach to their work.  Line management experience would be advantageous

This position is offered on a part time (3 days per week), fixed term 12 month period to cover maternity cover.
