The Head of Subject (Education and Society) will support the vision and advancement of the School of Human and Social Sciences by providing academic leadership and management of the disciplines of Education, Social work and Community Development. The post holder will lead development of the undergraduate and postgraduate course portfolio, so enhancing the student experience across the School.  In addition, the post holder will be expected to contribute positively to the School’s research and enterprise activities, supporting the University’s submission for the research excellence framework (REF), and undertake a pan-School strategic academic leadership role lead (e.g., research, learning and teaching). 

The School of Human and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to provide academic leadership and management. Bringing both strategic and operational skills, a collegiate and facilitative leadership style and an ability to think and work across boundaries. The successful candidate will help deliver the School’s vision for these academic disciplines, developing the undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio, enhancing the student experience, and fostering a culture of research and enterprise.  

Please be advised that it is expected that appointment within a grade will normally be at the minimum point.
