Category: Research | Faculty/Division: Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment | School: Engineering and the Built Environment | Department: Engineering and the Built Environment | Location: City Centre Campus (Millennium Point) | Post Type: Full Time | Closing Date: 28 Feb 2018 |   This role will be to specifically support a new 3 year programme of research within the Faculty of Computing Engineering and Built Environment (CEBE). This Interreg funded programme of research focusses on the remediation of waste streams using algae and then conversion of the algae into high value products thereby contributing to the development of a sustainable circular economy. This role will specifically involve the design and development of decision support tools that will capture and integrate data from the project. These tools will utilise GIS modelling, techno-economic modelling, Semantic search functions which will be developed during the project with partners. The successful candidate will report directly to the principal investigator but will liaise with other researchers and project support teams in the faculty. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate on a transnational research project and work within an interdisciplinary team of academics as well as with Industry, NGO and Government stakeholders. The successful candidate will have access to the world class facilities and expertise within the knowledge based engineering research group and be part of this large and exciting European initiative. This post is for a research fellow educated to degree level in a relevant subject area with a clear commitment to scholarship, research and learning. Research experience is required in a subject relevant to Knowledge Engineering, Semantic technologies and decision support techniques. Understanding or experience within the renewable energy/ low carbon sector would be preferable but not essential.
