The University of West London is a leading modern university specialising in the education and development of exceptional creative, business and service professionals.  The IT Services Department at the University of West London is a dynamic and forward looking department and is currently undergoing a series of transitional projects to improve staffing and student IT facilities across all sites.

To that effect, we are looking for a committed, focussed and experienced Senior Network Engineer that is accountable for the design, build & maintenance of network and connectivity components within our enterprise network to enhance the university systems in support of staff, students, visitors, Alumni, external users and the local community, in accordance with service level targets.

A degree or equivalent experience would be required for this role, however it is important that you have the ability, experience and knowledge to deal with this demanding but rewarding role.

This role demands a thorough understanding of logical and physical, network architectures including TCP/IP, routing, switching, security and cloud networking. The role would cover the A-Z of core network services which would mean that the ideal candidate would be multi-disciplined and be able to excel at team collaboration. We expect you to have the energy and passion to deliver and support using a whole range of technologies and have a solid demonstrable understanding of engineering principles.

You should be good at picking things up quickly, explaining things clearly and prioritising even when you're busy. You should have great communication skills yourself and are not afraid to prepare ongoing documentation using industry standard tools. Can you be that someone who can take ownership of their work?

We may not be a Cisco house but we are looking for a "can do" attitude towards other vendors and someone who understands attention to detail and one who is able to pick up the pace and hit the ground running – someone who thrives on results.
