Based at The Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, we are a University teaching hospital affiliated with the Hull York Medical School (HYMS). The hospital has recently benefited from major investment in a clinical research and teaching building and new cardiothoracic and oncology centres. The Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism outpatient clinics and research unit are situated at Brocklehurst building and inpatient ward at Hull Royal Infirmary. We have a busy educational program and the post will include opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Applications are invited for 1 substantive full time Senior Lecturer (Honorary Consultant Endocrinologist) in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism to join our team of 8 consultant Diabetes and Endocrinologists; 3 specialist registrars; 2 core medical trainees; 4 FY1 doctors; 9 diabetes and endocrine specialist nurses, 4 DXA scan technicians, 3 diabetes specialist nurses and 2 research fellows.

The successful candidate will agree a job plan comprising 5 HYMS academic sessions and 5 clinical sessions per week.  The appointee will join a dynamic research team in the Academic diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism group headed by Professor T Sathyapalan. The appointee will hold a substantive clinical academic contract with the University of Hull at Senior Lecturer level and an honorary NHS contract. The appointee will be expected to develop their own research programme within the HYMS research direction and to obtain external funding. He or she will be expected to provide teaching for the School’s programmes, including its MB BS and postgraduate offerings. The appointees will be an experienced, motivated, enthusiastic medical academics with a strong background in clinical research and a commitment to research, innovative service provision and education.
