Applications are invited for the role of Resource Officer within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham. The role will be the primary contact for HR related matters both within the Faculty and the University, working across a range of HR related activities; providing support and advice to Research staff within the Faculty.

The role will be responsible for the management of all HR recruitment activities relating to all research staff with particular focus on checking project finances, providing guidance and assistance to academic staff on writing Role Profiles and adverts, initiating and overseeing workflow via the Authority to Fill process, managing interview arrangements and checking eligibility to work documentation.

In addition, the role-holder will be responsible for ownership of the staff in-house database, ensuring that records are kept up to date; advising project owners of end of fixed term contracts, meeting with members of the research staff to discuss potential termination of their contracts, responsible for the efficient operation and monitoring of systems around sick and annual leave and coordinating the Annual Check for migrant workers for the Research staff across the Faculty.

The role-holder will be expected to work across a range of HR activities, providing support and advice to staff.

Candidates should have a HNC/HND qualification (or equivalent) or substantial work experience in the relevant field.

Key skills will include excellent IT skills and database management. Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail are essential together with self-motivation and time management skills. 

Candidate will need to have evidence of establishing new and improving existing administrative systems and procedures and managing resources.

Candidates will need proven ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels and to work collaboratively with academic and administrative colleagues. An ability to define priorities and work under pressure is essential in order to meet demanding and often conflicting deadlines. The candidates must have the ability to work independently whilst working as a team member.

Experience of working in a HE and/or HR environment would be desirable.

Training will be provided for the successful candidate.
