  The School of Management at the University of Bath is one of the UK’s leading business schools. We deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses to over 2500 students each year, undertake world-leading research with a range of FTSE250 corporate partners and are now embarking on a major transformation programme to lift our global profile even further. We are looking for a Director of Operations to lead all aspects of the School which support the academic function. As part of the Senior Management team this is a broad and demanding role which offers real opportunities to contribute to the continuing success of a major educational institution and create real impact on a global scale.    The School is ranked 1st for Marketing, 2nd for Business and Management Studies (the Complete University Guide 2018) and 3rd for Business Studies (The Times and Sunday Times University Guide 2017). We are a leading centre for management research, placed 8th in the UK in the latest research evaluation exercise. The University of Bath has been ranked by the Guardian as a Top 5 UK University and sixth for graduate jobs as well as Sports University of the Year for 2018.   As Director of Operations, reporting directly to the Dean, you will be accountable for a range of professional service functions essential to delivery of the School’s outputs including: marketing, corporate and external relations, press and media coverage, partnership development, international engagement, student recruitment campaigns, finance, business planning, administrative/programme support to academics and compliance. Leading these functions will require strong coordination with professional services functions across the University and you will need to be able to demonstrate your ability to collaborate, influence and work at a corporate level. You will need to be innovative, credible with the academic and professional services workforce, efficient, well organised and able to set clear direction for the School’s operations.   You may come from a Higher Education background but that is not essential for this role. Experience of leading professional services operations in a corporate, public sector or third-sector environment will be essential, and you will have an ability to adapt to these skills to the ethos of a world-class HE institution.
