The Department of Accounting and Finance at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) invites applications for a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) position in Accounting and Finance, to begin May 2018. The department welcomes applications in all areas of accounting and finance. 

Lancaster University has recently established a joint institute with its highly ranked partner Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU). The campus, called Lancaster University College at Beijing Jiaotong University, is located in Weihai in the Shandong province in China. The post involves direct collaboration with our key strategic partner in China. Key responsibilities will include:
(1) Complementing the internationally-leading research output of the Department;
(2) Undertaking two visits of 10 weeks duration annually to teach on the undergraduate programme in accounting and finance at the Weihai campus;
(3) Engaging with the administration and day-to-day running of the Department.

Members of academic staff are entitled to paid accommodation in Weihai, travel allowances and medical insurance in accordance with Lancaster University’s International (short term) Assignment policy.

You should have a Ph.D. in accounting, finance or related discipline, or are expected to complete your Ph.D. in the near future. You should be able to pursue your own independent research and develop publications in high quality and top accounting journals and should be able to deliver excellent teaching at the undergraduate level.

Accounting and Finance is one of the largest departments in LUMS – a world-ranked international business school which has topped the UK research rankings for nearly two decades. LUMS was ranked first in the UK in research power in the most recent (2014) Research Excellence Framework and is one of few business schools whose programs are accredited by all three international business school accreditation bodies: AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB. It is envisaged that this position will further strengthen the academic standing of Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) as a world class international business school. The International Lecturer in Accounting and Finance will deliver teaching at the Joint Institute in Weihai, China as part of the international strategic partnership between Beijing-Jiaotong University and Lancaster University. Located in the east end of Shandong Province, Weihai is surrounded by the Yellow Sea in the north, east and south with a 986 kilometers (613 miles) coastline in total. It neighbours Yantai in the west and is separated from the Korean Peninsula and Japanese chain islands by the sea in the east. Weihai is located in an undulant hilly area featuring gentle slopes and broad valleys. Apart from the major hilly areas, it has broad areas of littoral and mountain foot plains. The terrain of the city slopes gently, and most of the hills are less than 300 meters (984 feet) high. Its seashore area is winding with numerous interleaving headland bays, harbours and islets.
