Description :

This is an exciting new role that has been created, to support Lancaster’s new Health Innovation Campus (HIC) development. The University seeks to appoint a Business Liaison Officer, to engage with Lancashire based SMEs, to support the European Regional Development Funding (ERDF) associated activity, which is part of the £41m initial investment.

The Health Innovation Campus is a pioneering new project that will bring together innovators, academics, entrepreneurs, businesses, local government, citizens and health care providers.  The aim of the development, based beside the University's Bailrigg campus, is to drive advances in technologies, products and ways of working to improve health and healthcare.  The vision is to create a world-class centre of excellence for innovation and research in population health.

The HIC Business Liaison Officer, based in the Management School, will work with colleagues across campus to build a thriving, sustainable HIC business network in advance of the campus opening in late 2019. You will identify SMEs seeking new opportunities within the healthcare sector with a view to engaging with the campus once established. This post sits within a dynamic team delivering a £2 million, three-year revenue project, as an element of the overall investment. The project will deliver a programme of innovation support to eligible Lancashire based SMEs providing a range of  opportunities  to  accelerate innovation  into  the  health  and  care  marketplace,  from  interventions  via  masterclasses to raise awareness  of  opportunities  within  sector  and  thematic  workshops  to  explore  challenges  and enhance  innovation.  There  will  be  intense  development  and  applied research  programmes  to support  commercialisation  of  new  products  and  processes.

This is a challenging role for a confident, motivated self-starter with knowledge of the SME community and experience of sales/recruitment.  You will possess excellent communication and networking skills, and have experience of co-ordinating multiple workloads and performing to targets.

This post is subject to funding being awarded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund Programme 2014-2020 and is offered on a fixed-term basis until 31 December 2020 in the first instance.
