Description :

Be a part of our new Doctoral College

The University of Bath is proud to be one of the UK's leading universities, with an international reputation for the quality of our research and teaching.

We aim to grow our reputation as an international leader in graduate education and as part of achieving this aim we have established a Doctoral College, which opened in August 2017 based in the new 10 West Building. The Doctoral College pools our considerable collective expertise and resource into a specialist hub, which supports a high quality experience for each of our ever increasing number of doctoral students.

Most positions in the new structure have been filled by talented staff who are already experienced in supporting our doctoral community across the University. We are now looking for positive and able staff to join them in some additional positions and be a part of this new and exciting development.

Doctoral Recruitment Administrators; supporting those applying to do a PhD at Bath

We are looking for enthusiastic and proactive individuals to help us deliver a comprehensive and professional service to those applying to study doctoral programmes at the University of Bath. As part of our Doctoral College team you will play a vital role in providing efficient and effective support to doctoral applicants, enquirers and students. Your role will involve liaison with prospective doctoral students and their representatives, existing students, members of academic staff and professional services and external agencies. In addition you will be required to support the coordination of student funding allocations, and to assist with wider postgraduate recruitment activities. You will also be expected to support other members of the Doctoral College team and provide assistance and guidance where necessary.

Applicants for these posts should have previous experience of working in a busy office environment in an administrative role. Attention to detail is very important as is the ability to manage a busy workload with conflicting priorities. You will need to work closely with other team members, academic colleagues and students from across the world, so communication skills are highly important. You will be an excellent team player, able to work on own initiative, with a high degree of flexibility, and a quick learner. You should have excellent computer skills, with a proficiency in Word and Excel, and the ability to learn use of database systems. Knowledge/experience of Business Objects and/or SAMIS/SITS would be beneficial.

These posts are full-time (36.5 hours per week) and fixed-term for two years.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Simon Gane on 01225 3833875 or email s.k.b.gane@bath.ac.uk.
