Deputy Payroll & Pensions Manager

The University is seeking to appoint a Deputy Payroll & Pensions Manager within the Finance & Procurement department.  Reporting to the Payroll & Pensions Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for the operations of the payroll and pensions administration team for all activities associated with the processing and payment of salaries to employees of the University and associated organisations.

Candidates will already be working within a payroll environment and have a proven track record of processing large volume payrolls on integrated HR/Payroll systems.  You will be fully conversant with the procedures and controls required in payroll processing, including HMRC’s current operating procedures, and have been involved with systems design and development and the testing cycle for payroll upgrades.   

You will also have a good understanding of both defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes and the administration associated with such schemes.  Ideally you will have experience of relational databases and the extraction of data for analysis using reporting tools such as Business Intelligence or Cognos.

You must have good interpersonal and team leading skills and be able to interact with a wide range of people including staff at all levels, systems providers and outside agencies.  You will to be able to work on your own initiative, think outside the box and juggle priorities to meet the demands of the business.
