Description :

Professor of Clinical Psychology

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Professor of Clinical Psychology to lead the Doctoral Programme for Clinical Psychology as its Programme Director. The postholder will have an outstanding track record of educating psychologists at Doctoral level, a strong academic and research portfolio, whilst demonstrating excellence in clinical practice.

The Department of Psychology at the University of Bath is completing a significant expansion. The Department occupies a new purpose-built five storey building, containing two floors of laboratories, including state-of-the-art EEG/ERP, virtual reality, observation, psychobiology, eye-tracking, pain, cross-modal and computerised testing labs.

The Department operates a highly successful DClinPsych programme, with Level 2 BABCP and Intermediate AFT accreditation. This appointment will help to lead this program.

The Department has an established tradition of ‘theoretically informed applied psychology’ and we are seeking applicants with demonstrable research impact. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise, staff were returned in different units of assessment, the largest of which (Allied Health Professions) obtained the highest REF2014 rating across the whole University. The University was ranked 12th overall in the UK in REF2014. The Department was placed second in the country in The Complete University Guide, The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016. More information about the Department can be found at http://www.bath.ac.uk/psychology/.

The University of Bath is situated in the beautiful World Heritage City of Bath and is part of the GW4 group of leading Universities (with Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter). Bath is also a member of the ERSC-funded South West Doctoral Training Partnership, which provides up to 45 PhD studentships each year across the partner institutions. Bath is 15 minutes from Bristol by train and 90 minutes from London and Oxford.

The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Baring check (DBS).

Informal enquiries can be directed to the Head of Department, Professor Greg Maio (g.r.maio@bath.ac.uk; +44 (0)1225 384647) or to the Deputy Head of Department, Professor Julie Barnett (j.c.barnett@bath.ac.uk; + 44 (0)1225 383167). We’ll be happy to host informal visits with prospective candidates.
