Commercial Lawyer (018518)

The University of Surrey is seeking a qualified Commercial Lawyer to complement legal activities undertaken by the Secretariat & Legal Department.  Specifically this role will deliver high quality, timely and pragmatic legal advice on a wide range of matters such as commercial contracts, provision of goods and services, IT contracts, leases and licences and intellectual property.  The role will work closely with the Deputy General Counsel and University Secretary & General Counsel and will deal with instructions from a variety of business units across the University.  The successful candidate will able to apply their expertise to routine and complex scenarios.  They will build appropriate relationships with colleagues and be pro-active and robust in their approach to achieving desired outcomes.

The Secretariat & Legal department is responsible for legal advice, corporate governance, research contracts and insurance and ethical conduct issues.  The department seeks to provide a professional and quality service in its contribution to achieving University objectives.
