Description :

Applications are invited from strategic, creative and motivated candidates for the Director of Research, Innovation and Impact Services at Staffordshire University. This is a senior, strategic appointment reporting directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor. The post-holder will be responsible for leading the strategic and operational management of Research, Innovation and Impact Services, as well as supporting the research agenda across the University, ensuring this fits with the University’s Strategic Plan and supporting strategies.

Staffordshire University has ambitious plans as we embed our strategy to become “The Connected University”. With a presence across four campus sites (Stoke, Stafford, Lichfield, and Shrewsbury), we have recently invested over £40 million in campus transformation. We have achieved Silver in the TEF, have been ranked No. 1* for Employability in the DLHE 2017, and won an award for the most improved student experience at the 2017 Times Higher Education Awards, so this is a particularly exciting time to join Staffordshire University.

Research excellence is at the heart of our vision and strategy. The University is uniquely placed to make a substantial contribution to the regional society and economy as an intellectual hub and an anchor institution. Our research underpins the curriculum; contributing to a positive student experience and bringing a source of income to the University. This in turn grows the reputation of Staffordshire University and the region as a vibrant place to study, to work and to collaborate with.

With an excellent research record, the successful candidate will hold a doctorate and will have demonstrable experience of creating a supportive research environment in order to meet performance objectives. You will also have experience of developing and implementing research strategies.  The post-holder will be responsible for leading and managing a service made up of the Research Environment and Development team and the Project Delivery team, therefore effective leadership and management skills are essential for this role, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
