The Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology ICS offers fully funded PhD positions for a variety of projects. The PhD students will be appointed for a three or four-year period, with a formal evaluation at the end of the first year. In this period the graduates will work on their individual project, leading to a doctoral dissertation.

Location: Training and thesis supervision are in English. As the ICS is a joint venture of the universities of Groningen, Utrecht, Nijmegen and Amsterdam (UvA), PhD students reside either in Utrecht, Groningen, Nijmegen, or Amsterdam. Course locations alternate between Groningen, Utrecht, Nijmegen, and Amsterdam, with PhD students commuting during the period of each course.


The programme (fully taught in English) will start September 1st, 2018.
