Description :

Lancaster University is one of the UK’s top universities, ranked in the top 10 across all major tables, and is currently University of the Year in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide. The University is also one of the few research intensives to receive Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework exercise at the same time as improving its standing in terms of research power and profile.

In the role of Educational Developer you will provide expertise, leadership and high-quality professional development to Lancaster staff, in support of the University’s strategic educational aims. The focus of the role is to lead and coordinate Lancaster’s Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice, accredited against the UK Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Supporting Learning (UKPSF).

You will have expertise in relation to the continuing professional development and recognition of academic and learning support services staff, with a demonstrable knowledge of the UKPSF. You will be able to demonstrate effectiveness in supporting the practice and development of individual university staff, and the ability to successfully engage with colleagues at department, faculty and institutional levels to enable transformational change in educational practice.

Building on your knowledge and experience of educational development within the UK and/or international H.E. sectors, you will also make key contributions to the design, development and facilitation of the suite of programmes and curriculum advisory services provided by the Educational Development function. This will include contributions to the innovative design and delivery of educational development activity at Lancaster’s International Partnerships in China, Ghana and Malaysia.

Located within the Educational Development team, the role will require a balance between independent working and operating collaboratively with other team members. Demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will also regularly liaise with senior academic leadership, academic departments and student-facing professional services – providing the best possible support to those that engage with our development offer.

Through your teaching practice, careful insights into the H.E. environment and ability to support transformational development, you will work to further enhance Lancaster University’s reputation as a highly successful research and teaching institution, recognised on the international stage.

Applications are welcomed from those with a passion for educational development, who enjoy working with colleagues from a diverse range of educational and cultural backgrounds, and who hold a desire to work in a vibrant and ambitious university.

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
