Description :

The Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance seeks to fill a position for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Family Law, with a focus on family & law. The successful candidate will be part of the Utrecht Centre for European Research into Family Law (UCERF). The one year postdoc project will be part of our multidimensional study on families & law.

Content and aims of the UCERF Research Program

UCERF organises and promotes research in the field of Family and Inheritance Law from a comparative, international and multidisciplinary perspective. This Centre of expertise also devotes attention to teaching and other activities, such as the provision of legal advice.

The Research Centre unites all the Law Department Researchers who engage in Family Law Research. In addition to their expertise in Dutch, European, International Family and Private International Law, many also have extended knowledge of the various national legal systems of other European states.

The Researchers involved in UCERF implement the Research Programme Regulation of Family Relations. The main research question asks: 'Which aspects of family relations must be (mandatorily) regulated when should the government take protective measures, and in which areas should family members be free to organise their own family relationships? Which roles are therefore assigned to the government, employers, social partners and employees in this regard?'

We are looking for a Researcher who takes an interest in one or more of the following research lines:

International Family Law: both at the EU level (such as the EU instruments on Private International Law) and at the human rights level including children's and women's rights; Contract and/or Tort Law and Family Law; families in an ageing society; work, care and the family.

UCERF's research aims to be at crossroads of field of law and different disciplines.
