The University of Surrey has ambitious plans to grow its Degree Apprenticeship offer, delivering industry responsive courses and higher-level skills to industry partners nationally and locally.

We are seeking applications from motivated and dynamic individuals to the post of Degree Apprenticeship Manager. You will have a proven track record as part of the management team for delivering degree apprenticeships in a higher education setting or extensive experience of working in apprenticeship support at a senior level. You will have a proven record of working collaboratively and innovatively as part of a broader team focused on building employer partnerships, customer account management and the operational aspects of working with academic departments on programme development and delivery internally , and working externally with the Education and Skills Agency and other stakeholder groups with an interest in apprenticeships.

The Degree Apprenticeships Manager role offers the opportunity to develop and implement a wide-range of innovative approaches to developing degree apprenticeship programmes at a time of opportunity for the University to bring experienced management to an area of academic programme delivery which is new to the University. In bringing operational service leadership to the University the post holder will work with the Director of Employability and Careers and the Degree Apprenticeship Steering Group to report to the University’s Teaching and Learning Committee and Executive Board to ensure that the University’s excellent reputation with employers is maintained.

As Degree Apprenticeships Manager you will work with academic departments to identify growth opportunities within our planned Apprenticeships provision to create a commercially viable income stream.  You will build, manage, and lead an Apprenticeships Team to optimise relationships with existing customers and develop a strategy for engaging new businesses across a variety of industry sectors whilst ensuring internal systems and processes are in place to meet demand.

As regards relationship management with employers, you will act as commercial ambassador for the University. A major element of the role will be building upon the links the University has with industry to ensure employer responsive degree apprenticeship provision that also meets the University’s objectives in its corporate plan with regard to strategic employer engagement.
