This is a great opportunity to join The University of Hull at a time of significant investment and change in the campus and infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced Network and Communications Analyst to join the ICT department.

The Network and Communications team are responsible for providing expertise in all aspects of the University’s wired networks (both Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks), wireless networks, unified communications and telephony. You will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of excellent Network and Communications Services and in doing so, expected to collaborate with other teams within ICT and its external partners and suppliers.

You will be accountable for addressing and managing user requests, queries and incidents as part of providing 2nd/3rd line support to the Service Desk. You will be responsible for providing technical support and development for the physical networking, including the implementation and management of HP technology. You will provide support for Wireless networking, particularly Aruba technology. You will also support Network security services, connectivity and communication as well as the voice over IP telephony system.

Essential key skills and experience:

Demonstrate a wide range of IT knowledge to support the Network and Communications Services.Working knowledge of HP or Cisco technology from a physical network perspective.Knowledge of the following Network Services - DNS, DHCP, 802.1x, Radius, firewalls etc. Exposure to telephony service, ideally VoIP would be beneficial.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

 Desirable skills and experience:

Next Generation Firewalls.VPN and load balancing.Intrusion Detection Systems.Networking in the Cloud (Azure, AWS).FreeRadius.
