An experienced finance professional is sought to manage a portfolio of financial improvement projects within the University and play their part in designing and implementing effective systems and processes. The work will also include mapping, discovery and improvement of existing processes. The projects you will be involved with will vary in time commitment, scale and complexity.

The role reports to the Group Finance Business Partner and sits within the Financial Control department, but the work is not limited to that area and will involve other departments or functions across the organisation.

We are looking for someone with superb communication skills who is able to influence effectively at all levels and drive forward change fully supported by the relevant business teams. You will have proven planning and organisation skills and good hands-on IT skills.

In relation to financial systems and controls processes you will have proven experience of process review leading to the development of innovative solutions to resolve identified problems and the ability to ensure actions are taken and become embedded in ongoing procedure. To do this you will draw on your in-depth understanding of the importance, operation and interactions of financial systems and controls processes operating within large and complex organisations. Experience of analysing and interpreting  large volumes of data will be an advantage to this part of the role.

You will also be able to demonstrate your ability of preparing financial information to ensure compliance with relevance statutory and regulatory obligations.

As the role will be responsible for a number of projects at the same time and will also need to manage ad-hoc requirements you will need to demonstrate your ability to manage your time and clearly communicate your progress to stakeholders. To this end a project management qualification (or an understanding of project management principals and documentation) would be an advantage, as would experience of working within an organisation operating devolved financial management systems.
