Description :

This post offers an opportunity to join the politics team in an expanding undergraduate programme within the Division of Sociology and Politics.

We are looking for a dynamic social scientist to complement our existing staff interests. We have teaching needs in comparative and international politics; we would also welcome applications from candidates with expertise in an additional geographic area (e.g. USA, Russia or China).

You will contribute to core politics curriculum areas including introduction to political theory, as well as generic teaching in quantitative and qualitative research methods, personal tutoring and undergraduate dissertation supervision.

You will have a good (1 or 2:1) first degree in Politics or a related area, a PhD (or nearly completed) and be research active. Up-to-date, sound knowledge of politics, including current developments along with experience in teaching and a Higher Education teaching qualification (or committed to obtaining one) are also essential.

Job sharers welcome.

Interviews will be held during June and the anticipated start date would be as soon as mutually agreeable in time for the start of the 2018-19 academic year.

In return, the University offers a wide range of benefits, such as a generous annual leave package, including time off over the Christmas period, as well as childcare voucher and travel loan schemes.

Informal enquiries can made to Dr Francesca Burke at: F.Burke2@brighton.ac.uk
