In this role you will provide technical support for teaching and research activities as well as provide support for laboratory and workshop training sessions and research activities. You will also assemble or make lab equipment for use by both students and researchers.

You will be part of a team of technical staff providing a wide range of specialist activities, covering disciplines such as Civil Engineering, Construction, Environment, Geography and Geology, making for a very diverse and interesting role, with the opportunity to learn new disciplines. 

3D plastic printing is one area which has developed significantly over the past few years giving the technical team the opportunity to research and develop novel applications for this developing technology. As well as traditional manufacturing methods we have a CNC laser cutter for plastic and wood, cutting material up to 20mm thick. Most members of the technical team have their own areas that they are responsible for, this is usually based around their specialist area/skill set.

You will also assist in the day to day maintenance of the laboratory’s equipment including duties such as Portable Appliance Testing. Training will be provided where necessary.
