UWL Library Services has been awarded Customer Service Excellence accreditation; national recognition of the high quality of the services we offer to students, academics and researchers.  Come and join the Library team as we seek to further improve our services. We are seeking to recruit a full time Customer Experience Assistant to join a friendly and helpful team providing front-line support to students, academic staff and researchers at our Paul Hamlyn Library on our Ealing campus.

Duties will include helping to provide consistent and high quality customer service in the Paul Hamlyn Library.  You will help customers with their library and information enquiries, and provide pro-active assistance with self-service kiosks and other equipment. The post-holder will also provide first-line support for users requiring help with the University’s IT systems. They will also assist with library stock maintenance and will help maintain an appropriate library study environment.

The successful applicant will be committed to providing a high level of customer service. They will have experience of working in a library, IT or customer care environment, and will be able to confidently use and demonstrate a range of software applications including internet applications, MS Office and social media. They will be a good team player with excellent verbal and written skills and will be able to work flexibly, proactively and without supervision if necessary. 

This is a full time position working Monday-Friday, 35 hours a week with occasional weekend and evening working where required.  You will work as part of a team of Customer Experience Assistants who cover different shift patterns across the scheduled hours of the library service (9am–8.30pm, Monday – Thursday, 9am-6pm Fridays and 10am – 6pm at weekends with revised hours during vacations). 

Annualised hours will be applied to this role and staff may be requested to work outside of their usual pattern where required in the interests of maintaining the service.
