Applications are invited for the above posts based in Academic Orthopaedics, Trauma and Sports Medicine, in the School of Medicine, University of Nottingham, located in Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.

The successful candidates will assist the Course Director in the smooth running of the two MSc courses and to co-ordinate taught postgraduate modules (namely, Sport and Exercise Nutrition, Physical Activity Epidemiology and/or Research Methods) (the number of credits managed would vary depending on hours worked) and assist with coordinating/delivering and assessments of other modules as appropriate.

The role holders will be expected to contribute to supervising the dissertation projects within the areas of Sports Medicine and will also require that research in the area of Sports Medicine is undertaken. The successful candidates will be encouraged to pursue their research interests in collaboration with colleagues in the Division of Rheumatology, Orthopaedics and Dermatology and/or the School of Life Sciences.

The post-holders are expected to work flexibly and respond positively to changing needs.

Candidates must have a higher degree in a relevant field, although not necessarily a PhD where other relevant experience is evident. Candidates must have experience of teaching and examining to postgraduate medical, health or science students in a relevant topic as well as supervision experience. A higher education teaching qualification is desirable. The role requires excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clarity on complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers, using high level skills and a range of media. Team skills are also essential.

Opportunities are available to teach one or more modules depending upon relevant knowledge and experience, on a fixed-term part-time basis, minimum of 7.25 hours per week, maximum 21.75 hours per week, Tuesday to Thursday, until 31 July 2019. Job share applications may be considered for this post.

National travel will be occasionally required.
