Description :

Do you want to be part of a team that is seeking to transform the way that educational provision can meet the needs of the rapidly-growing med-tech sector in the Leeds City Region? Can your proven track record of effective project management help to create new approaches to learning for students and for businesses that will help grow the productivity of one of the region’s priority industry sectors?

The Leeds City Region is recognised nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence for MedTech. It is home to over 250 businesses specialising in medical technologies and a further 200 digital and technology businesses operating in the health and social care space. The success of the industry creates both an opportunity and a skills challenge: increasing demand for a high level of technical skill means that companies are finding it hard to fill vacancies and the dominance of small businesses means that companies often struggle to provide the necessary training and development. The University of Leeds has significant capabilities that support the development of new medical technologies and these are united under a single gateway - Medical Technologies at the University of Leeds.

Our vision is to support a MedTech industry workforce which is equipped with the skills to develop and manufacture 21st century medical devices. We have secured HEFCE Catalyst funding to implement the first phase of this vision – the National MedTech Skills Academy - in which industry and education providers will work together to establish a talent pipeline that will help train and develop the next generation of MedTech workforce.

As the Project Manager for the National Medical Technologies Skills Academy, you will work closely with the MedTech Skills Academy Academic Leader, the Director of Medical Technologies Innovation and team colleagues to implement the first phase of the vision for a new National MedTech Skills Academy.
