Description :

The Department of Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Bath is seeking to fill a lecturer position with a scientist with an established research reputation in microbiology.

The successful candidate will join our vibrant Infection and Immunity Research theme. We therefore encourage applications from individuals working in areas of interest to existing staff, including – but not limited to – host-microbe interactions, microbial adaptations and responses to the environment, antimicrobial resistance, genomics, microbial ecology, microbiome research and microbial immune evasion.

We are particularly interested in applicants wishing to establish new collaborations within the Infection and Immunity research theme, the Milner Centre for Evolution, the wider department and across the University (e.g. Dept. of Pharmacy & Pharmacology or Dept. of Health, or the Centre for Mathematical Biology). A clear potential to acquire external funding to sustain an active research programme is essential. The successful candidate will be a key driver of our new MSc in Molecular Biosciences programme. Hence, commitment to deliver lectures and laboratory-based practicals, as well as the broader management skills to help develop the programme, are essential.

The University of Bath and our Department have an Athena SWAN Bronze award. We are committed to equality of opportunity and encourage applications from women and underrepresented groups.

Interviews are expected in early July 2018.

Queries should be addressed to Dr Susanne Gebhard (s.gebhard@bath.ac.uk, Theme Lead) or to Professor Rod Scott (bssrjs@bath.ac.uk, Head of Department).

Closing Date: 13 Jun 2018
Type: Education & Research
