Description :

The University of Hull has recently made a significant investment in Mathematics and the section is rapidly expanding. The University has also created a high-performance computing facility (VIPER), ensuring the University has international competitive computing power. The mathematics section is in the recently formed School of Mathematics and Physical Sciences which includes Physics and Chemistry. A new, revitalised, undergraduate curriculum was introduced for mathematics from 2016. We are now introducing a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics and wish to recruit a Lecturer in Statistics to support our excellent delivery of learning and teaching.

The successful candidate will develop and pursue a high quality research programme that compliments the current research themes in the School and University, for example contributing to the Interdisciplinary Research Institutes. You will actively participate in the subject area’s teaching, reach-out, pastoral and administrative responsibilities with the main contribution to teaching being in the area of statistics. You will strive to enhance further the high-quality teaching we deliver and promote the employability of our undergraduate and postgraduate students through curricula that are current, research-led and internationally reputable, thus giving our students an exceptional learning experience. You will be expected to be a keen ambassador for the School’s achievements, both internally and to a broader external audience, building relationships and seeking opportunities to optimise the impact of the work we do.

Candidates are requested to upload a covering letter and CV.

Applications are particularly welcome from women and minority groups, who are under-represented in academic posts in STEMM. We are currently applying an Athena SWAN Bronze Award for the newly formed School and have signed up to London Mathematical Society as Supporters of the Good Practice Scheme.

Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Gillian Greenway, Head of School, T: (01482) 466355, E: G.M.Greenway@hull.ac.uk
