This role provides a unique opportunity to work at the heart of world-class entrepreneurial activity and deliver economic impact through the growth of innovative firms and creation of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) funded Enterprise M3 Innovation Support Programme.

Innovation is a key strategic priority in the Enterprise M3 LEP. The Innovation Support Programme (ISP) will build upon the Enterprise M3 LEP’s innovation strategy. It will bring together and co-ordinate delivery of the regions currently fragmented actions and initiatives to enhance the speed and volume of new innovative products/services developed by local Small and Medium Enterprises. 

The Innovation Support Programme (ISP) has two distinct delivery activities that will be predominately facilitated via a knowledge base consisting of the five higher education and private research providers in the region

SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) Innovation acceleration programme, workshops and brokered engagement activities

The Innovation Support Programme (ISP) will speed up innovation and SME engagement through proactive brokered collaborations and networking, including B2B and knowledge base-2-B, to introduce SMEs to the knowledge base staff, facilities and resources.

Flexible co-funded grant scheme

A flexible two stage funding programme, with Tier 1 and Tier 2 project awards. This £1.75m grant programme will aim to part fund access to the staff, skills, knowledge and resources of the knowledge base that would be beyond an SME at the moment.

The contract is fixed term until 31/12/2020 and will be based at University of Southampton Chilworth Science Park with some travel across the Enterprise M3 LEP area and further travel to the SETsquared centres across the South of England. You will have a skill level equivalent achievement of a postgraduate degree in a relevant area. You will have experience of working in a large commercial or public sector organisation. A proven track record in the supporting programme delivery of activities, ideally within the Higher Education sectors.

Reporting into the University of Southampton Business Acceleration team, this role will work alongside the existing SETsquared incubation teams at the University of Southampton and Surrey.  It is part of the European Regional Development Funding programme for the Enterprise M3 Local Economic Partnership and as such it will also incorporate the ERDF administrative processes. 

This role will help support these services and expand them to other locations and organisations across Southern England.  It is a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to help drive innovation and growth across the region.
