Sport, Health and Exercise Science is a growing subject area in the Faculty of Health Sciences. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Research Assistant to join our research team in Sport, Health and Exercise Science at the University of Hull in order to assist in creating and validating an online platform and app to further develop our novel, individualised 12-week home-based exercise programme for obesity and other obesity-associated medical conditions. This is a Higher Education Innovation Funded (HEIF) project and you will work together with a dynamic, multidisciplinary team to investigate the physiological responses to the programme on the newly designed platform /app (developed in conjunction with colleagues from Computer Science)

The post holder will contribute to the creation of the new platform and app through designing the online intervention, working alongside a computer science intern. Additional main duties will include: liaising with our established contacts, recruiting participants, providing verbal and written information for participants, quantitative and qualitative data collection, entering data into SPSS. You will organise and collect data to support the development and validation of the newly created platform. You will be expected to produce periodic reports that describe your results, take part in monthly team meetings, produce scientific outputs for publication in peer reviewed journals and present your work at internal and potentially external conferences. This post is available from the 1st August 2018 and is offered for a 12-month fixed term contract.

You must hold a BSc or equivalent university degree in Sport and Exercise Science or equivalent and have previous work experience in a research environment (desirably having obtained or be in the final stages of attaining a PhD in the field of obesity/strength and conditioning/exercise programming or have a strong background in strength and conditioning/exercise programming).
