Forensic Science is a key component of long-standing and successful STEM provision at the University of Lincoln. Since the inception of the School of Chemistry in 2014, supported by a £6.8m award from HEFCE’s Catalyst Fund and strategic University investment in infrastructure, the Forensic Science programmes reside formally in the School. However, to maximise the subject’s interdisciplinary footprint, the programmes operate jointly with Lincoln’s School of Life Sciences as the Forensic Science Subject Centre

The School builds on a tradition of applied sciences at Lincoln, and operates interdisciplinary research themes at chemical-materials and chemical-biology interfaces including analytical chemical and/or biological methods (e.g. pharmacology and toxicology), sensor development, active functional materials, structural or spectroscopic methods, and novel synthetic methods.

The taught Forensic Science portfolio includes undergraduate Forensic Science and Forensic Chemistry, and post-graduate Forensic Science degrees. An innovative undergraduate curriculum in undergraduate Forensic Science has recently been validated and was accredited in 2017 by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences. The programme is based on four key themes: Biological Sciences, Analytical Sciences, Crime Scene Science and Professional Practice.

We are seeking applicants with significant research and / or professional track record in Forensic Science and the potential to provide a sustained contribution to all aspects of the School's activities. Early career candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to teach in specialist areas and have an enthusiasm for broadening their experience across the sciences. In each case, an ability to develop provision in modern forensic methods in biological and analytical sciences (particularly DNA methods) would be highly advantageous.
