With substantial support from the HEFCE Catalyst scheme, the University has established a new School of Chemistry and is seeking to substantially enhance its position across its key strategic areas of Chemistry and Forensic Science and further its track record in the application of chemistry in research and innovation. Substantial investment in new research and teaching facilities, and in major capital equipment is has established a dynamic and modern working environment for the School.

For our lectureships, we are targeting individuals with the ability to develop our programmes in the broad areas of applied chemistry operating at chemical-materials and chemical-biology interfaces. These may include but are not limited to: active functional supramolecular or nano-materials,  formulation science, analytical methods, and molecular (organic and organometallic) synthesis. An ability to provide broad contribution to the School’s taught programmes across chemistry and forensic science will be an advantage. A commitment to working within multidisciplinary teams and an enthusiasm for developing research-integrated teaching will be strong attributes in the successful candidates.

We are seeking applicants with significant research track record and the potential to provide a sustained contribution to all aspects of the Division’s activities including research, teaching and academic administration. Early career candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to teach in specialist areas and have an enthusiasm for broadening their experience across the chemical sciences.
