Description :

Are you an innovative and enthusiastic systems developer looking to join a like-minded team at The Times and Sunday Times 2018 University of the Year? We’re committed to the continuous evolution of the systems that underpin our ability to provide teaching and research excellence. We build, we buy and we integrate to ensure we are focused on adopting and deploying technologies appropriate to our business needs.

You will join a positive working environment and work within a strong, collaborative and supportive team. You will be allocated a mentor who will work closely with you to support you and develop your skills. You’ll have enthusiasm and a demonstrated capability for problem solving, developing new competencies, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and work well in a team.

You should have an understanding of contemporary web and database technologies, and experience of application development in a mainstream programming language. You should display a willingness to learn. Experience of implementing, supporting and developing on the Salesforce platform and building interfaces between disparate applications would be an advantage, as would experience of agile software development methods (e.g. Scrum).

We work in a purpose-built computer centre and have a strong focus on innovation, continuous improvement and staff development. A critical component of our success model is the ability to attract students to study at Lancaster University and we’re embarking on an exciting journey with a new CRM system (Salesforce) to support all our student recruitment and conversion activities. This system will provide the capability to target communications, manage events and provide effective responses to enquiries from students thinking of applying and then applying to Lancaster. The system will also interface with several internal systems, not least our sector leading in-house student record system and therefore integration is key.

You will focus on technical ownership of the Salesforce technical solution within the University. This will include supporting the configuration and administration of the system, coordinating maintenance and upgrades, designing and delivering integration capabilities and developing new functionality of business value on the Salesforce platform therefore contributing to our exciting “Digital Lancaster” plans to maximise the opportunity for the exploitation of digital technologies.
