Applications are invited for a 3 years Research Fellow in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton. This post, supported by the Alzheimer’s Research UK, is to investigate the interplay between T cell immunity and innate neuroinflammation in primary Tauopathies.  

The ideal candidate will have earned their PhD or equivalent professional qualification in Neurosciences or Biomedical Science. You will ideally have good experience of at least some aspects of neuroscience, inflammation, and immunohistochemistry; experience in analysis of gene expression and image analysis would be particularly valuable. Demonstrated abilities to communicate well, write clearly, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential. You should be a highly motivated candidate, capable of independently designing and carrying out experiments as well as intellectually contributing to the project to achieve its goals in a timely manner.

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

You will collaborate in an interdisciplinary manner with colleagues within and across Faculties in the University of Southampton and collaborators from Lille and Paris. The candidate can expect a collegial and research-focused environment.
