The Academic Centre for International Students, part of the Faculty of Humanities, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced tutors for our summer Pre-sessional programmes in English for Academic Purposes. Our 2017 Pre-sessional programmes saw nearly 1700 students join our vibrant University community, and we are looking to expand our existing team of language professionals for 2018. You should be a graduate with a CELTA or equivalent, and ideally hold a DELTA or postgraduate degree associated with English language teaching/ Applied Linguistics. You should have significant recent experience of student-centred EAP or EFL teaching, ideally in a UK higher education context. Successful candidates will be fluent in both written and spoken English, and committed to an excellent student experience.

Course dates:

Course A: Staff induction from Tuesday 26 - Friday 29 June, teaching from Monday 2 July to Thursday 13 September. Course B: Staff induction from Tuesday 24 - Friday 27 July, teaching from Monday 30 July to Thursday 6 September.

Fixed-term posts are available for course A or B. You must be available to teach for the entire period of the course for which you are applying; annual leave accrued will be paid at the end of the contract.

Posts available:

Reading and Writing Tutors (full-time only) Listening and Speaking Tutors (full-time or part-time at 0.5 full-time equivalent). Please note that the part time hours will be based on student timetables. If you are only available to work on certain days of the week please contact us prior to applying.

Starting salary: 

Listening and Speaking Tutor: £29,799 pro rata per annumReading and Writing Tutor: £33,518 pro rata per annum

We are unable to enter into negotiations concerning pay.
