The Wessex Institute is part of the University of Southampton (ranked top 1% in the world). Handling contracts including the NIHR (National Institute for Health Research) Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETSCC) we manage and maximise the impact of ground-breaking medical research programmes, influencing the future of healthcare delivery across the UK and medicine worldwide.

We are currently looking for two Communications Managers to join our Communications team, part of the Public Involvement and External Engagement (PIEE) team. 

One post is available on a 0.6fte permanent basis and the other post is a 12 month fixed term contract post for up to full time. Please outline in your application which role you will be applying for. If you would like to be considered for part time hours on the fixed term contract post, please indicate what working pattern you can offer. 

Interviews are likely to be held during w/c 9th July 2018. 

With excellent communications and planning skills, you will be capable of building and maintaining strong working relationships with senior managers, researchers and clinicians and ideally have experience of project management. You will have a proven track record of success in a relevant communications or public relations role, or similar transferrable experience, with experience of digital communications and delivering campaigns through web and a range of social media. Experience of working in a press office or with the media would also be an advantage.

You will be educated to at least degree level or equivalent and ideally have some experience of research and/or its management in an NHS or health setting.  You will have excellent organisational and planning skills, and already have responsibility for managing discrete areas of work or projects. Familiarity with HTML and web publishing, including content management systems would be an advantage. Strong team-working skills are essential and you will join an enthusiastic and supportive team.
